About Me… Whose thoughts are these, anyway?

Hi, my name is Tara… thanks for stopping by and “Reading my Thoughts”! I have four amazing, wonderful, yet, very individualistic children… Dalen is 18 and a sophomore in college, Savannah is 16 and just started her senior year in high school, Cameron is almost 14 and just graduated to high school freshman, and Sweet Baby Isaac is 6 months old and very excited to finally have 2 teeth! I love each one of them so much, it hurts!!!

I am on a journey…. I know where I have been (and I have the scars to prove it), but have no idea where I am going. I get up each morning and tell God, “I am just along for the ride”. Life has been very difficult, but by HIS Grace we are surviving…. I am thankful each day for this gift of “Life” and am trying to find the beauty despite the pain. God is an awesome God… and I am trusting in Him for my joy and strength!

I like music that “moves” me (physically and metaphorically speaking)… the style and artists are always changing…. it depends on my mood. I love cooking and entertaining! No matter what time people stop by the house, we seem to always be cooking up something interesting to eat and share with others. I love when my house is full of family and friends (especially the kids’ friends) and there is much laughter! Difficulties in our family life have sometimes made it hard to even find smiles, so I cherish every joyous laugh and good time we can experience. I love to make jokes… although, I am usually the only one who finds them funny! I love to travel and see this beautiful planet…. I haven’t ventured out too far, yet, but am always anxiously awaiting that next opportunity. I love, love, love photography; especially taking pictures of my children and life we experience. To me, a picture is a moment… never to be forgotten, reminding us of days, times and emotions that would have slipped from our memories had it not been captured by the lens!

Hmmm…. anything else? Oh, yeah… we have 1 puppy named Marshmallow (although she responds mostly to “Puppy” and my oldest son’s favorite name for her “Dumb Dog”), 3 cats named “BooBoo”, “BJ” and “Cookie”… and my daughter’s newly acquired fish, “Theodore”.

I have two life verses: One is Ephesians 3:20-21a, “Now to HIM who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to HIM be the glory…” We have a tendency to “limit” our God; we like to tell Him what we think He should for us, when it should be done, and how He needs to go about getting it accomplished. If we will just sit back and “let” God be God, truly trusting that He knows what He is doing (even when it doesn’t seem to make sense); if we will just allow Him complete control in our lives, then He can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine”…. (Try it! The peace He gives you along the way is amazing!) And the second one is Luke 1:37, “For NOTHING is impossible with God”. Does that even need an explanation? I believe it whole-heartedly and am standing on that promise for many areas of my life!!

I believe God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do!!! That about sums it up… me in a nutshell!

I’ll keep you updated as tomorrow is a new day and my thoughts are always endless!!

Much Love to you All!!!

Tara ♥

  1. Hi Tara,
I am the Administrative Assistant for Elim Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens, Washington. I am wondering if you created the cross with the heart on your blog titled “What’s Love Got to do with it?” It’s really beautiful, and our Pastor had a sermon in which he described Jesus’ love for us and the cross with the heart embodies his word picture. Would it be ok if we used this picture as our logo? Or could you let me know who I could get permission from if you didn’t create it? Thank you so much. In God’s love, Leslie Martin

I actually have the same question. I am a member of Hermann Christian Church in Hermann, MO. We are putting together a new brochure and would love to use this image of the cross and the heart on the cover. As above, please let me know if this is ok or who I could get permission from if it isn’t you.
Thank you. In His Arms, Pauline Von Hoffer

    Hi Tara,
In Hindi language (India), Tara means `star’ and your joyful face and eyes reflect the name. It was nice to read your thoughts on the blog on 10 things a wife should know in her marriage. I was attracted to your post so visited your blog.
    in Christ,
    Philip
